(MHHC) broke ground at 1761 Walton Avenue, beginning the construction of a 14 story building having approximately 94,000 sq. ft. of residential space (104 units) and approximately 10,000 sq. ft. gymnasium.  Partnering with local developer, Procida Construction Company LLC who is funding the residential portion of the build (46 million), MHHC raised the $8.1 million for the gymnasium through the Bronx City Council ($2.25M), property equity ($5.3M) an $550,000 in private loans.  MHHC’s OSHA certified construction crew will participate in the building of this property. Completion is anticipated in the fall of 2023.

As a 100-percent affordable housing development, the apartments are exclusively reserved for individuals and households at 30 to 60 percent AMI and will be made available through NYC lottery system.  Twenty-three will be set aside as permanent housing for homeless families.  The gym will be developed in conjunction with the existing Mount Hope Housing Community Center and is equipped with 5,000 SF training facility, basketball court, locker rooms and amenities. The entrance to the gym will be on 55 East 175th Street and house a full-size basketball court and seating area, training and fitness facilities, and locker rooms.
